Outdoor Skills

In order to catch something when you go fishing, to have a close encounter with game when you go hunting, to hit what you aim at, there are things you need to know and things you need to do, often just at the right time.
Outdoor skills are the secrets to success. We must teach them to beginners, so these sports are given a sporting chance to fascinate them.

There’s an old joke that’s been tossed around by guides and outfitters about guaranteed hunts and guaranteed fishing trips. Before people pay to play, they sometimes ask, for example, whether a hunt is guaranteed. What the customer is asking: if I pay you x amount of money, will you guarantee me a big deer?
“Absolutely, it’s a guaranteed hunt,” is the standard response. “You’re guaranteed to go hunting.” Everybody gets a good laugh, especially any other guides or outfitters who happen to be within earshot.
If you’ve ever watched what good guides and outfitters go through while trying to create quality hunts for their customers, it’s easy to get the joke. Many average hunters cannot sit still at crucial times, don’t shoot accurately, are not experienced at seeing the game in order to set up for the shot, and don’t have the same degree of stamina as the guide. In a lot of cases, a guide has to create three or four chances before the customer even gets the shot off. If the customer manages to get the shot off, accuracy of said shot is often marginal.
